Paula Maya and her band pay tribute to this golden era of the Brazilian music repertoire. Besides authentic Brazilian bossa nova, their performance adds elegance, movement and beauty to any occasion. A soothing, sultry sound that is both relaxing and make you wanna dance. You will hear all the classic songs: Girl from Ipanema, Chega de Saudade (No More Blues), Corcovado (Quiet Nights) and many more.

Maya is an award winning Brazilian pianist and singer originally from Zona Sul (South area ) of Rio de janeiro, Brazil,
the birth place of bossa nova. In fact her dad frequented Ipanema beach in his teenage years, way before it became developed, and was part of the same circle as the great Antônio Carlos 'Tom' Jobim (composer of Girl from Ipanema).

Before Paula moved to the US she was blessed to study with the great Luizinho Eça, who was a very influential pianist and arranger during the bossa nova era. She also met the great Brazilian guitarist Baden Powell, who told her dad that she 'can sing like a bird'. Powell also mentioned Paula at some of his shows as 'ahead of her generation'.

"The Blanton Museum of Art was very fortunate to have Paula Maya and her band play at our B scene: Bossa Nova event. In addition to being excellent musicians, they were also fantastic to work with and their sound was absolutely perfect for our theme.  I would highly recommend them and hope to work with them again soon." - Stacey Hoyt, Manager of Special Events
